Are you looking for a meaningful interval in your life? Do you need some time in a quiet space in which you can serve others while still finding generous time for yourself? We may be able to help you with that.
Our community welcomes women who would like to enrich their lives by living and working with us as volunteers. The purpose of our volunteer program is to provide women the opportunity to enhance their lives by sharing in the life, prayer and ministries of our monastery.
A variety of opportunities are available in areas such as clerical and computer work, phone duty, liturgical music, housekeeping, gardening, cooking, etc. We are flexible in offering choices that would correspond to a volunteer’s gifts, training, interests, and expertise.
Work time for a resident volunteer is generally considered to be about 30 hours a week. But there are also possibilities for those who live nearby and want to volunteer on a more limited basis.
As a volunteer, you are invited to participate in the monastic life of the Sisters, such as common prayer, Eucharist, meals, and recreation. For personal enrichment you may choose to learn various crafts such as silk dyeing, spinning, crocheting, embroidering, beading, etc. There is time for personal reflection, reading, hobbies, and recreation. For walkers and others who love nature, we have a great outdoors to explore in all four seasons, complete with dog, cats and llamas.
Board and room are provided at no charge, but you are expected to provide for your own personal needs, health insurance, and transportation to the monastery. For scheduling purposes, resident volunteers are asked to make a commitment for a specified time up to several months.
If you have any questions regarding this opportunity, please contact us and ask for the Volunteer Coordinator.
